oprah greenleaf

Throughout her life, Oprah has focused on telling compelling stories. OWN’s new mega-church drama, Greenleaf, she says, is a continuation of her lifelong passion for sharing the stories that matter.

Oprah says:

“I don’t think there’s anything greater, actually, than our ability as human beings to tell our story, and to have that story listened to and actually heard by others,” Since I was a little girl growing up in a church in Mississippi, I’ve been telling stories. I’ve been telling stories through The Oprah Show, through [O, The Oprah Magazine], through interviews on OWN, and now this is just another form for me of sharing stories that matter.”

This is a continuation, she says, of sharing themes within the human experience that have the power to make us feel something. “I mean, there isn’t a hashtag big enough to really announce how big it is for me that we are now in the business—the real business—of scripted television.”
