The goal of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (#NEDAwareness) is to put the spotlight on eating disorders and improve public understanding of their causes, dangers and treatments. Millions of people across the country suffer from eating disorders, but by increasing awareness and access to resources, we can encourage early detection and intervention. Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental disorder, so early intervention can mean saving lives.
3 Minutes Can Save a Life: Get Screened. Get Help. Get Healthy.
This year, the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is focusing on the importance of early intervention. We’re encouraging the public to take just 3 minutes to complete the confidential online eating disorders screening. Taking 3 minutes to complete the screening will help determine if it is time to seek professional help.
Help is available and you are not alone. Let the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) be part of your support network by utilizing the available programs.
The NEDA Helpline is often an initial step for those suffering from an eating disorder or their loved ones. Trained Helpline volunteers are available Monday – Thursday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM ET and Fridays, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET,to answer your questions about seeking treatment for yourself or a loved one, finding support groups, assessing your options, and finding information and resources about eating disorders.
