People appreciate simple, direct, common-sense solutions.

At Samaritan Ministries International, one of the leading health care sharing ministries in America, a common-sense approach has been at the core of its mission for 22 years.

“The simplicity of Samaritan’s options—as well as the simplicity of the biblical message that grounds the entire ministry and our more than 69,000 member households—remains the same,” said Anthony Hopp, Samaritan Ministries’ vice president for external relations. “This is especially true as health care becomes more complicated. Samaritan’s sharing and cost structure is straight-forward, and the lifting up through prayers and notes of encouragement our members send each other is the cornerstone of Biblical community. Samaritan has always aimed to connect believers, based on the simple idea of Christians helping Christians with their health care. That’s really the beauty of it.”

Today, Samaritan members share $23 million each month in medical needs, following the Bible’s teachings to “bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2 | ESV). And feedback from members shows how the simple concepts of biblical health care sharing impact families around the nation.

Currently, Samaritan members pay a monthly share of only $495 for a family of any size, while individuals pay $220 and couples pay $440. Just as significant, Samaritan members also pray for one another and include notes and cards of encouragement and comfort with their monthly shares, which they send directly to other families.

“Over the past year,” wrote Regina from Texas, “we have had a few needs and the process has been so easy, and receiving the cards and notes, along with the money to pay the medical bills, has been wonderful!”

Alison from Florida added, “We love it! What a blessing it is to enjoy writing a check to a member each month. I never had that feeling when we had insurance. We had a baby in August, and the whole process was nothing but easy. Absolutely no issues, and above all, we really feel like we are part of a community and a greater purpose.”
