I have to admit, going in I was sure that this film was going to be just a ‘guy action film.’  Boy, I was surprised!

With Dom and Letty married, Brian and Mia retired and the rest of the crew exonerated, the globe-trotting team has found some semblance of a normal life. They soon face an unexpected challenge when a mysterious woman named Cipher forces Dom to betray them all. Now, they must unite to bring home the man who made them a family and stop Cipher from unleashing chaos.

The film takes you on a ride of emotions. You have sadness, disappointment, anticipation and love and loyalty.

# 1 Fatherhood Role is one that is filled with long term planning for hard situations.

In this eighth installment Dom has truly stepped forth as the patriarch of his family and fosters in the team the talents  they have. He is continues with the hard choices, even tough the family wants a different path. Dom knows that at the heart of it his family knows him and knows that they will understand that they need to do something.

#2 Men can show their sensitive side and can be tough

Dom (Vin Diesel) , Deckard(Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson) and Hobbs (Jason Statham) knock this out of the park.  You see smart, engaged men with hearts. The film opens up with  Deckard coaching his daughters soccer team and you realize that this is not going to be your average action film. There is no Neandertal brutish thinking. By far these actors bring thought, charm, love and commitment. Without giving away anything, there is a scene with Hobbs that will ‘blow you away’. I couldn’t help think that they should make this a father’s day special. Dom is married and in love and has allowed himself to be truly loved and to love. You will see that play out on screen in a big way.

#3 Technology may not always be our friend.

The writers deserves a standing ovation for delivering the tech warning. I promise you will never think of your automated computer in your car the same after seeing this.

#4 True friends  never give up when they understand loyalty

By far seeing the crew team up together and how each has developed in their familial role is wonderful.  Circumstances in the movie ask them to believe in each other more than they have ever had to. Needless to say it is a real lesson about the meaning of loyalty that few films five you.

As to the actual action scenes in the film there is tons  to enjoy. In the opening sequence, in Cuba,  Dom races a car. What entails in that race will keep you riveted. By the way shout out to girl power in this film! I dare you to leave the film and not say, “Go Letty!’

The car sequences in this film are  better articulated to the story. They are become characters in scenes as opposed to timed explosions.  I think the whole family can enjoy this film.  I even dare to say that this  was the best one. I cannot wait to watch this film again! It’s a must see for the family!

The language may be a little rough and some violence articulated, but you can definitely watch with the children have discussions about the violence.
