The innovative hybrid publisher, Riverdale Avenue Books will be releasing 1984 in the 21st Century, a new anthology with essays on how George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel 1984 still resonates nearly seven decades after it was first published in the aftermath of WWII.  The anthology will be published on April 4th, 2017, to coincide with the date on which the novel’s main character, Winston Smith, begins his illegal diary, and will be FREE for one day only to the English-reading world online at RiverdaleAveBooks.com.

After the novel 1984 made the #1 spot on Amazon’s best-seller list, Riverdale Avenue Books put out an international call for submissions of essays.  Articles in the book include such notable writers as science fiction legend David Brin, Pulitzer-Prize winner Matt Bai, feminist academic Melissa Febos, and 20 others authors, as well as average citizens.

“With the current political climate, it’s no wonder that 1984 is now #1 on the best-seller lists,” said Publisher and Anthology Editor Lori Perkins. “Readers and writers relate to the political zeitgeist in the novel in current events right now. It gives us all something to think about!”
