George Herbert Walker Bush, the president who managed the end of the Cold War and forged a global coalition to oust Iraqi forces from Kuwait, has died at age 94. Yet, he leaves behind words of wisdom that can be applied, no matter the political side you live on.
After he left the White House, Bush focused on charity. Through the Points of Light Foundation, which promotes community service through about 250 affiliates in 22 countries, and his other efforts, he raised more than $100 million for cancer research and literacy, and he paired with his former rival Clinton to champion relief work around the globe.
In October 2017, following a string of devastating hurricanes that battered the Southeast, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Bush joined Clinton and former Presidents Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter and George W. Bush at a concert to raise money for victims.

President Bush promoted the idea of a new world order that worked globally to end terrorism and live together in a peaceful democracy. The idea was given as an objective for the Persian Gulf War, which began when Iraq invaded Kuwait.
Critics argued that America did not need to get involved in the issue, and Bush used the idea of the U.S. as global peacekeepers are part of his justification.
“Out of these troubled times, our fifth objective — a new world order — can emerge: a new era, freer from the threat of terror, stronger in the pursuit of justice, and more secure in the quest for peace,” he said. “An era in which the nations of the world, east and west, north and south, can prosper and live in harmony.”
