Today is the first day of Christmas. Contrary to popular  belief, the twelve days of Christmas start with Christmas day.

The song lyric is as follows:

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me a partridge in a pear tree.

What does that mean?

Our true love would be God. The very first commandment explicitly explains God’s rightful role in our lives. The commandment tells us:

I am the eve thy God; you shall have no other God before me.

As for the rest of the song, The partridge bird is obviously  Jesus Christ. The pear is very close in shape to an apple. Henceforth, it would make sense for us to think about Jesus conquering that apple tree and changing it’s worth.

On this first day of Christmas let us celebrate the sweetness and beauty of Christ.
