December 28 Is Holy Innocents Day, Remove Blame From Others

Holy Innocents Day is observed annually on December 28th.

Holy Innocents Day (also referred to as Childermas) commemorates the massacre of male children at Bethlehem by King Herod’s order (Matthew 2:16).  Also known as the Feast of the Holy Innocents, this day is observed in the Western churches on December 28 and Eastern churches on December 29.  These children are considered martyrs, Saints of God, by the Church.

On this day it is custom to give the youngest child in the household the power to rule the day.  From what to eat, where to go and what to do, the youngest is in charge.  In Mexico, it is a day for children to play practical jokes and pranks on their elders.  Use #HolyInnocentsDay to post on social media.
Also think about who you blame for things. Listening to this year’s debate on the troubles with the Healthcare.gov website it struck me how the blame game destroys business. What at times was more finger pointing than substantive debate about the Obamacare website revolved around “who are we going to fire” rather than how do we make government projects successful and prevent reoccurring failures.Trying to affix blame, finding who to fire, and hauling companies into court is about punishment. Failures need solutions. We need to learn from the issue and chart a course to avoid repeating the same mistakes. Unless someone knew about the issue and did nothing to correct it, directed someone to create the failure, or knowingly did not have governance in place to address it, he or she is not the problem.
Do me a favor read: 5 REASONS WE SHOULD BE TAKING CULTURE FIT SERIOUSLY and  reflect on the honest message.
History says upon hearing of the birth of the King of the Jews and the fulfillment of an Old Testament prophecy, Herod ordered the execution of all the male children in Bethlehem.  While the exact date when this event occurred is uncertain, the feast has been celebrated since before the end of the fifth century.
We really need to think about what blame triggers in people. We are guilty of sending out execution orders in words, deeds and actions.  They come in the form of social media, corporate responsibility and community responsibility.
