Christians are often encouraged when they meet with others of like precious faith. Since persevering and enduring are vital, we will need encouragement in our painful trails and struggles. Such can come, in part, when God-fearing, serious Christians meet together.

In 2 Corinthians 4, the big goal of the Christian life is to “not lose heart”. It’s the idea of preserving until the end in the Christian life. Like a runner lasting to the end of the race, the Christian is to keep going and keep trusting Jesus.

All of us will undergo troubles, hardship and grief in this life. You may not have been through much yet, but you will. That’s part of living in a broken world. Personal struggles. Depression. Anxiety. Addiction. Sick family members. Death.

You have to keep going.

The Bible encourages us to “fix our eyes on JESUS, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2). What do you think kept JESUS going? A dream? Absolutely! His dream was seeing people, like you and me, get the opportunity to have our sins forgiven and a home in Heaven. His dream came at a high price. Most dreams do.

His dream meant His own death in order that you and I might have life.
