An adaptation of the classic fairy-tale about a monstrous prince and a young woman who fall in love.The tale has been notably adapted for screen, stage, prose, and television over the years.
Beauty and the Beast provides us with an interesting example to consider, because while we generally think of it as an anonymous story handed down from the distant past, in fact, the tale is a literary one, created by the French writer Madame Gabrielle–Suzanne de Villeneuve in 1740.
The story makes us reflect on what is inside a person rather than their outside shell. Disney is following up their great success with this live action retelling of one of their great cartoon successes stories.
The movie will star Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Ewan McGregor as Lumière, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Kevin Kline as Maurice, and Josh Gad as LeFou.
