The original drama series ‘Greenleaf‘ from award-winning writer/producer Craig Wright takes viewers into the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphis megachurch, where scandalous secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful. Born of the church, the Greenleaf family love and care for each other, but beneath the surface lies a den of iniquity—greed, adultery, sibling rivalry and conflicting values—that threatens to tear apart the very core of their faith that holds them together.

The only son of Bishop James and Lady Mae Greenleaf, Jacob is a loving father and a husband to Kerissa Greenleaf. “Jacob’s also somebody who’s had a lot of other dreams and aspirations that didn’t necessarily include being part of the family business,” Lamman reveals in this character profile of Jacob.

“There’s a lot of challenges that Jacob’s going through in his marriage, his relationship with his mother and his father and accepting the role that’s been asked of him,” Lamman says. “We’re seeing some of the behavior and choices and transgressions from him. He’s kind of like the unhappy prince in the palace, and he knows there are certain things he can get away with.”

Lamman says Jacob is well-intentioned but confused. “I think he’s a very loving man. I think he’s very intelligent, but I also think he’s lost,” Jacob says. “He doesn’t really know what his purpose is. He’s trying to find his way, trying to make his marriage work, trying to stay committed to his children in the midst of everything going on around him, but I think he’s somebody that you’re going to care for and hopefully be pulling for.”

The new season of #Greenleaf premieres Wednesday, March 15 at 10pm ET/PT on OWN.
