The American Music Award for Favorite Artist – Contemporary Inspirational has been awarded since 2002.
The award reflects the year in which the awards are presented, for works released in the previous year (until 2003 onward when awards were handed out on November of the same year).
The all-time winner in this category is Casting Crowns with 4 wins, they are also the most nominated act with 8 nominations.
This is an interesting award because the category combines all forms of Christian music and with sexes in one category. Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Mary Mary and Mercy Me have all won in this category.
This year’s nominees were Lauren Daigle, Mercy Me and Zach Williams.
The winner was Lauren Dangle.
